I've discovered my purpose in this life

This painting is a continuation of last night's work. I had to share the thoughts I am having as I create this one. Life is so precious. Living in the now has become more important to me. If I can paint a large colorful painting and one person receives joy and optimism from having it in their home, then, this gives my life purpose. So many times I sit and paint and hope that wherever the painting goes in the world it will radiate some kind of love and beauty. This is why I paint.

What I am working on tonight

The mood has struck me to paint this vibrant 36 x 36" free form loose botanical fusion kind of painting. Still working with a newer color scheme, using unusual combinations of brushstrokes and colors. When I paint these free flowing pieces I stand so that I can easily use my body movement to help move the brush.

Flower painting experiment

Yesterday, I worked on this painting hoping to use some new color combinations. I wanted the background to be darker and more in contrast with the flowers. This is an experiment because I told myself not to be too frustrated if it didn't turn out how I wanted it to. It's all a part of learning some new things about painting. 

At the end of my painting session, I decided to sleep on it, and look at it with fresh eyes in the morning. Well, I can say that I am happy with the colors I chose here but not so much with the actual painting itself. So there is something positive coming out of the project. Even though I didn't complete the painting, I can still say that I am happy that I tried!

New Tree Art Print

This is a new print I am offering titled "Pay It Forward". My original painting was done on a huge canvas one day when I wanted to create a very free and abstract feeling landscape. It was kind of an experiment for me.

Working on my new vision board

I have 5 sisters. We all love to do things together. Yesterday, my sister, Linda, came over and we had a mini retreat by making our creative vision boards to think about what thoughts and dreams we have for 2013. We lit a candle, wrote down our thoughts on a large sheet of craft paper I had rolled out onto my table, and worked for hours. After we completed our work, we did some simple yoga. (Linda is a yoga instructor :)) 

We laughed and had a great time.
