My paintings are very vibrant, colorful, acrylic on stretched canvas. I love naive, large brush strokes. My subjects range from very abstract to still lifes. I enjoy color like crazy and if I get an idea in my head, I will experiment and then possibly create a series of similar yet different paintings.

I have loved art my whole life and whenever there was an opportunity to give back to the community or to take a class or be involved with something creative I was always a part of it. I studied at Ringling School of Art & Design, where I majored in Graphic Design. I then worked in print and advertising & publishing areas my whole career. Now, I am a painter and paint every day. My work is full of vibrant color and larger brush strokes. As a fine artist, my paintings are collected all over the world. I have recently expanded my listings on the internet.

Painters who have inspired me are Matisse, Klimt, Kandinsky, and other fauvist painters. I find that painting gives me peace and puts me in a place where I can focus on the beauty that is all around us.
Painting gives me the opportunity to give back to the community in different positive and meaningful ways.

Overcoming artist's block...

Sometimes I go through very long periods of creative artist's block, or what I like to refer to it as a "rejuvenation period". This could happen for weeks at a time, unfortunately. I don't know why, but I just don't produce creative works when this happens. So, when it does, I know I must use the time to read and think about things that I would like to paint. I create the painting in my head over and over again. Then when the time comes to paint I put it all on the canvas.

I have one in my head now. I will be starting this painting in the morning. I'm so happy I finally have broken through my artist's block.

I'll give you a hint...

it will be a tree!

It will be simple!

It will be unique!

I can't wait to start it! Stay tuned.

This is a new chapter in my blog life....
After "hiding behind" my art for so many years on my websites, I have made the decision to start blogging about my artist life along with my artwork. I think it's important to share my experience as an artist.

A little know fact about me is that, as an art student in art school, I didn't understand or like painting in color! Yes, it's true. I can remember speaking with my painting instructor one day. He told me that I could do my paintings in pencil if I wanted. My fear of color was intense. I didn't know what to do with it. I often thought, "I'm an artist, why don't I like to work with color in my paintings?" I got through somehow.

My major was graphic design. My plans were to become a designer for print materials, not a painter. After graduation I started working as a graphic designer and never stopped.

Then one day, many years later, I got the "creative" hunger to go out and buy a stretched canvas to paint on. I could not afford a stretched canvas in art school, I always painted on board, so I never had the opportunity to see what it felt like to paint on one. This day changed my life! My decision to start painting was born.

I found my dream art table today!! Love you Ikea!!

MY NEW GINORMOUS ART TABLE IS HERE

I had decided last week

that in order to be more organized & productive

I would have to go out and buy a

huge, ginormous table

to do my art on.

Today that dream came true at IKEA!!

I went to the Clearance Room

and found exactly what I was looking for

on sale. A 102" x 36" white tressel table.

It was a deal for real.

It was also already assembled

and ready to load in my van. Yes!

With the help of the Ikea workers,

they managed to get the huge (and heavy!) table in just perfectly.

(I even tipped them, I was so happy!)

Can't wait to start my work.

My paintings can be quite explosive!

Going Forward

Last week I started to think about where I am going with my art. It is my life and I choose to go forward to use my talents as a way to make my living every day. Not only that but also to give people the kind of art that they have dreamed about for their homes. So, I will be painting a lot more than I have recently so that you can own the painting that makes you really happy.

Creating a painting is very personal and quite complicated emotionally. I work in such a way that I must work on a piece until it is complete in my mind, heart, and soul. Even if it is a commissioned piece, it does not go out for the world to see unless my vision has successfully been created! :)
